Montaña Redonda

Montaña Redonda is a roughly 300-metre hill near Miches, in El Seibo province, between Laguna Redonda and Laguna Limón. Its cleared summit has a 360° view over both lagoons on one side and the Atlantic and Samaná Bay on the other, with rope swings, hammocks and photo props at the top. From Bávaro it is about 1 h 15 to 2 hours by road, and tours from Punta Cana run 6 to 7 hours in total, often combined with Miches beaches. At the base you can take a 4x4 truck up a steep, bumpy track or walk up in about 30 minutes. The cliff edges have no fences, so keep small children back. December to April is the driest stretch; come early in the morning for clear light or late in the afternoon for the sunset, and expect more people at weekends. There are small cash fees at the base. No excursion we photograph goes here, so photos at Montaña Redonda are a private shoot, arranged in advance.
