Where we shoot
El Limón Waterfall
A 40-metre jungle cascade reached by horseback in Samaná

Salto El Limón plunges roughly 40 metres in a single white column into an emerald pool deep in the rainforest hills of the Samaná peninsula, reached by a muddy, scenic trail that most visitors ride on horseback. After a 30-to-40-minute climb past coffee and cacao groves, the trail opens onto the falls, where you can swim in the cool plunge pool beneath the cascade. It's the iconic waterfall excursion of the Dominican northeast and a classic adventure photo. Our photographers follow the trail with you — framing the horseback ride, the white column of water and your swim at its base. The cascade runs all year and is at its fullest and most powerful in the wetter months, while the dry season makes for an easier, firmer trail.
