Bávaro Beach

Bávaro Beach is the long, resort-lined beach at the heart of the Punta Cana hotel zone, on what is called the Coconut Coast. It is public: by Dominican law the first 60 metres of coast belong to everyone, so you can walk along even the most exclusive resort frontage, although loungers and resort grounds are private. Non-guests use public access points such as Bibijagua, Los Corales and El Cortecito. A reef offshore keeps the water mostly calm, turquoise and shallow, which makes it good for families on quiet days. Lifeguards work mainly along resort stretches, so respect the flags where they are posted. The driest months are December to April, while sargassum seaweed is most likely from May to September; one bay can be clean while the next is covered, and resorts clean their stretch every morning.
